ABOUT

Singita Boulders Lodge

Why This

Inspires Us

  • The name – Singita Boulders lodge was inspired by the ancient boulders on which it rests! Even the temperature-controlled wine cellar was built around some of the organic-shaped rocks found on the site during construction.
  • The Glass-fronted Suites are enormous! Beautifully decorated as is the bathroom. The outside decks overlook the river – the best was to sit and relax with a cocktail in hand in our own heated plunge pool and watch the animals in the river – unforgettable!
  • Winter evenings you return to a fire roaring in the fireplace…what can be more romantic and cosy?!
  • Singita Boulders Lodge has a unique sense of place and seamlessly merges the light, shapes and mood of its environment.
  • Located in the world-renowned Sabi Sand Game Reserve where they say leopards fall out of trees!
  • Singita is responsible for successful community development projects

Boulders Lodge provides a continuous connection with the prolific wildlife and birdlife for which Sabi Sand is so well known, seamlessly blends the beautiful light, colours and textures of its surrounds into vast interiors that spill onto expansive wooden decks. Simplifying the essence of comfort, it welcomes complete unwinding.

Designed to embody the soothing shapes of ancient boulders scattered along the riverbank and completely immersed in the wild, Boulders Lodge allows you to find yourself in nature. Each of this contemporary retreat’s 12 glass-fronted suites offers the utmost privacy, ultra-spacious interiors and heated pools, with handmade furnishings and soft, natural fabrics mirroring the breathtaking scenery outside.

Suites

Open to the elements or separated from the outside by glass walls, the guest suites feel close to the river so that guests can soak up the beautiful surroundings.

Each suite has an adjoining bedroom, a separate living room and a viewing deck with its own plunge pool overlooking the unspoiled wilderness, creating the perfect sanctuary for guests during their stay.

Rustic, hand-crafted furniture made from fossilised tree stumps, slabs of solid stone, wrought iron and leather are balanced with the soft, sensual feeling of a sheep-skin rug, natural flax linen and cloud-like cotton towels. These fine layers of luxury combine soulful, sensual Africa with high design to instil a sense of tranquillity, to ease visitors into the rhythm of safari life.

7 x River suites are found along the river facing stretch of the property.
3 x Bush suites overlook a well visited watering hole and pristine natural surrounds.
2 x Family suites each include an en-suite master bedroom and an en-suite twin bedroom. There’s an extensive outdoor dining and lounge area with a stone fireplace, and a private viewing deck with a heated plunge pool.

Dining

The surrounding landscape and animals can be seen and enjoyed from every angle, making for a truly immersive safari experience.

Singita Boulders’ kitchen has been designed to fit into an existing stone and glass-walled building located near the dining decks. The kitchen is lively and light-filled, surrounded by landscaped areas to create a sense of the kitchen being outdoors, while large panels of frameless glazing allow guests to view the bustling dynamics of a working kitchen.

New glass sliding doors also lead directly off the main pathway, encouraging passersby to wander into the kitchen and mingle with the chefs.
Creating a more tangible connection between the diners and the chefs is a natural extension of the interactive guest experience that has become a signature of Singita’s approach to food.

Safari

Providing access to 45,000 acres of untouched wilderness in Singita Sabi Sand in South Africa, Boulders Lodge is known for frequent leopard sightings and exceptional game-viewing while exploring the rich animal and birdlife on guided game drives and bush walks.

Journeying into the heart of Africa’s most untouched and remote wilderness areas, Singita’s twice-daily game drives present the opportunity for intimate connections with nature and discovering the raw beauty of the continent’s most magnificent creatures up close.

Every game drive is a tailor made expedition with your personal Field Guide, and celebrates the freedom to spend unfiltered time in wide-open spaces and while no two Singita game drives are ever the same, you are bound to be mesmerised by vivid encounters with Africa’s most iconic wildlife

Each game drive traverses landscapes that are as rich in scenery as they are in wildlife.
Imparting a wealth of knowledge and intuitively responding to each guest and group’s interests, Singita’s expert Field Guides and Trackers exude a boundless passion for Africa’s wildlife and wilderness. Their in-depth knowledge of the area – and the inherent role of every plant, insect, bird, mammal, predator and season in its unique ecology – makes every encounter and sighting all the more meaningful, and elevates each connection with nature.

As the warmth of the African sun slowly starts to light up the treetops and grasslands, their early morning game drives are filled with an energy that’s simultaneously exciting and soothing. Never knowing what’s around the next corner, the sense of adventure for what lies ahead for the rest of the day welcomes a continuous unfolding of magic as the bush wakes up to reveal its secrets.
And when the sun dips on the horizon, bringing the day to a close with a brightly painted sky, idyllic sundowner stops in exclusive settings encapsulate the romance of safaris deep into the bush. Accompanied by a cool evening breeze and the beauty of the clear night sky above, the peaceful journey back to the lodge often reveals the elusive magic of nocturnal Africa, making for a fitting finale.
