Silvan is redefining luxury safari in Africa and our inspirational Leadwood and Jackalberry forest provides the ideal canvas for this groundbreaking lodge. Their flittering hero, the bee-eater, introduces vibrant bursts of colour throughout the lodge and gently weaves its magic into grand art collaborations and intricate hand-woven masterpieces alike.
The contemporary, modern architecture is slick, bold and alluring with a nuanced bohemian flair adding a sense of whimsical artistry.
Silvan safari is centred around a complete celebration of unique and exceptional experiences. Their mindful approach honours the intricate manner in which all life is connected. From witnessing the unrivalled spectacle of the African sunrise, feasting on sensational culinary delights to connecting with the heart and soul of Silvan.
Decks throughout the lodge ensure that everyone has a place to relax and unwind. A grand, handwoven nest, swinging from a Jackalberry tree, lends artistic character to this lodge. The living areas are clad with copper bars and oversized daybeds fit for lazing on the deck and at the pool.
The Ansellia Orchid Spa is a haven of tranquillity where the gentle sound of water gurgling into the private pool welcomes you while caring hands treat you. Relaxation and pampering form an integral part of the Silvan experience.
Suites
Architectural elegance optimises the design aesthetic behind each of Silvan’s six unique suites. Drawing inspiration from numerous indigenous species of trees found around the lodge, they have intertwined elements such as their name, form and colour into the splendour of every suite.
From the noble knobthorn to the enigmatic cassia, each suite’s design is bespoke and offers individually handcrafted masterpieces throughout. Artistic brilliance has been incorporated in every detail, enticing the eye to explore every minute aspect of the suite.
The six suites are the Kierie Klapper Suite, Cassia Suite, Knobthorn Suite, Blue Guarrie Suite, Tree Wisteria Suite and the Leadwood Family Suite and offer luxurious accommodation, extraordinary space and magnificent river views. Every pod’s private plunge pool is perfectly positioned for you to watch, cocktail in hand, as animals stroll by along the riverbed below.
Silvan’s family suite, the Leadwood, welcomes their multi-generational travellers. Inspired by the trees, Silvan’s suites embrace their size and stature, providing ample space and light. Each one of their pods has its own unique design and decor inspiration, which means that no two suites are alike.
Dining
The majestic Jackalberry tree with a lower breakfast deck , outdoor gazebos and the Modjaji dining room are living spaces for gathering and sharing. Guests staying at Silvan Safari are encouraged to enjoy a relaxed dining experience and as such allow their guests to set the rhythm and routine of their day.
Meals are normally served in the main lodge, but can be enjoyed privately on your deck or shared with a group in a specially chosen location. Personalised wine and food pairings are a particular favourite for food and wine connoisseurs alike and can be selected to suit your individual taste.
Safari
The Sabi Sand Game Reserve shares unfenced borders with South Africa’s Kruger National Park and is celebrated for having the richest game population in the country and over 500 bird species, making it an exclusive safari destination.
Guests need to look no further than the lodge itself where it has been a sanctuary for wildlife as much as it has been for its people. Their leopard, Tiyani, gave birth to her cub in their Ansellia Spa when it was just a shell while their resident elephant herds often wander through camp, drinking from their pools.
While you need look no further than the riverbed below Silvan to spot wildlife, game drives offer you the best chance to experience the incredible variety of animals which the Sabi Sand is so famous for. An early wake-up call at dawn will see you rise with the bush and its residents.
At Silvan Safari they mimic the movements of the wild, going in search of wildlife when they’re most likely to be on the move (early mornings, late afternoons, and evening) and retreating to the shade as they do for respite from the midday heat. Blankets and state-of-the-art Swarovski binoculars are also available in their vehicles.
