Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge
African Inspired Safaris – Inspired to take you there
ABOUT
Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge
Why This
Inspires Us
- Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge is the first privately owned lodge within Africa’s oldest proclaimed National Park (Hluhluwe iMfolozi)
- The location of the lodge is absolutely breathtaking, set high up on a ridge offering spectacular panoramic views.
- We found the lodge absolutely incredible! The staff, the food (delicious), the accommodation and the overall vibe is pure magic! No matter where you are in the lodge, that view just seems to follow you – wether in your suite, relaxing in the spa, taking a dip in the swimming pool or even while you dine!
- The 3 types of rooms are all positioned to take full advantage of the incredible views and boast something for everyone – Safari suites are great for families, Bush villas are amazing for couples (love the fireplace in these suites!) and the Honeymoon villas have plunge pools (imagine the kind of view from there!) for romantic couples!
- Why not rejuvenate your mind, body and soul while relaxing to the sounds of the wild and soak in the essence of Africa at the beautiful spa facilities?!
- Rhinos Rhinos Rhinos – A conservation success story – the reserve boasts the highest populations of these beautiful animals as well as many other wildlife to look out for. Why not enjoy this oldest reserve on foot or in a vehicle with professional guides!

Lodge
Information
Gather your partner, family and friends and journey to the kingdom of spectacular sunsets and big blue skies. This dramatic setting begs a sophisticated interpretation of authentic luxury. Light, colours and textures play meaningfully between inside and out.
Your time is your own, relax in our leisure areas, restore in the spa, warm yourself around the campfire at night or put your feet up in their plentiful chill spaces around the pool on a hot Zululand day. Your journey has begun…
Take a deep breath. Long after you’ve left you’ll remember this view of Africa. The lodge has an elevated sense of peace and tranquillity which allows guests to fully decompress. Visionary open-plan architecture and a deck that runs the full length of the main lodge combine strategically with the natural vantage point to create views that take your breath away.
A sense of calm, the ultimate luxury. Time in the bush and shared connections, the joy of seeing a newborn antelope, the thrill of a cheetah hunt. As we slowly unwind and deepen our connection with nature and ourselves, we remember she restores.
Suites
Mindfully curated interiors drawing on our best architect – the natural wilderness – their villa’s and safari rooms are organic and raw with a pure natural elegance.
Oozing with contemporary energy, their rooms are placed on a walkway seamlessly blending along a cliff edge and offering magnificent views over the game reserve and down onto a busy waterhole.
Rhino Ridge boasts 4 room types:
Two Honeymoon Villas, which are light filled structures blending into the bush with private plunge pools offering a dramatic lookout onto the game reserve.
Eight glamorous Luxury Bush Villas with deep baths separated from the bedroom by open fireplaces.
Four luxury Safari Rooms with showers opening out onto the bushveld.
Two Safari Family Suites comprising two separate bedrooms each being en-suite and both joined by a closed passage – ideal for families travelling with young children.
Dining
Sensibly led by their Group Executive Chef Carl Moller, for over a decade, their kitchens are constructed on his signature approach of responsible sourcing and fresh, fresh, fresh. Every meal needs to be a delight and respectful of their guests wanting to feel light and healthy and ready for the next culinary adventure in a few hour’s time.
Along with his modern fusions and traditional favourites, guests can look forward to a few local dishes.
Safari
A tangible connection between nature and loved ones, that’s our business. Their guests yearn for an African safari experience enthused with contemporary African energy.
At Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge we will give you the thrill of Africa’s oldest game reserve on foot or vehicle with professional guides and later unwinding with unrivalled levels of contemporary and mindfully created comfort. Their activities are tailored to offer the very best experience of this world renowned big five game reserve.
There are few things more iconically African than setting out at dawn in an open game viewing vehicle and watching the crimson sun creep over the horizon as a herd of majestic elephants ambles across the dusty road in front of you.
These are the experiences and unique wildlife encounters that they take utmost pleasure in providing for their guests on their safari drives in the spectacular Hluhluwe iMfolozi Game Reserve, a vast haven for protected species such as rhino, elephant, leopard and wild dog.
At Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge, they offer both morning (6am in summer and 6.30am in winter) and afternoon (4pm in summer and 3.30pm in winter) safari drives which are included in your room rate.
A morning and evening game drive or walk unfolds the raw beauty of our continent and its most magnificent creatures. An early morning starts as a honey golden sunrise seeps into the day, as you settle into the journey of layered knowledge led by your guides. And as the day closes down she opens a myriad opera of night calls, stars and dramatic encounters.
These drives in open, high game viewers with professional guides are the highlight of every safari in South Africa. You just never know what’s around the next corner… Safari drives are not only about seeing the Big 5, but learning more about the amazing ecosystems and creatures great and small.
Your knowledgeable guide will impart a wealth of fascinating information, bringing you closer to the natural environment. You’ll also get to enjoy the scenery when you park the vehicle to enjoy outdoor treats – warm drinks and nibbles in the morning, and sundowners and snacks as you watch the sunset on your evening game drive.
Settle, listen and watch, it’s the best show on earth.
