An authentic, unfenced safari lodge in South Africa’s iconic Kruger National Park, Rhino Post Safari Lodge provides an exclusive opportunity to get close to nature on nature’s terms. Rhino Post offers the best of both worlds, with the enormity and diversity of the Kruger and the exclusivity of an eight suite lodge on a private concession in a game-rich area.
Situated on a 12000-hectare concession in the south-western section of the Kruger National Park, Rhino Post Safari Lodge offers an unforgettable African safari experience. The private concession borders Mala Mala and Sabi Sands Private Game Reserves and allows the unrestricted passage for a variety of animals and wildlife to wander through, creating moments of wonder for all our guests.
The lodge overlooks the perennially dry Mutlumuvi riverbed. With wooden decks built around a forest of riverine trees, shade is plentiful. The lodge is designed with vast areas of open space, large glass doors and windows helping to bring the outside in. Wherever you are – at the pool, the bar, in the lounge, taking a bath or shower, or just relaxing in your room, they endeavour to make you feel as if you are always at one with nature.
The lounge bar and viewing deck are sizable enough to be both social and cosy and at the same time, large enough that guests are able to enjoy some quiet-time and solitude. The reception and curio shop are combined to ensure that there is always someone to attend to your needs, whether you are booking an in-room massage therapy or picking out gifts for loved ones at home.
Suites
Raised wooden walkways link eight thatched suites each offering their own outdoor shower and private deck.
Each contemporary bush suite with large glass windows and doors offer maximised views of the majestic Kruger National Park. Boasting their own private deck overlooking the dry Mutlumuvi Riverbed whilst the shade of large riverine trees provides prime viewing spots for watching passing wildlife.
Each suite accommodates two persons, with four of the suites allowing either a super king or twin beds configuration, and four with twin bed configurations. The open-plan suite has an en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bath and outdoor shower.
Dining
The dining area at Rhino Post Safari Lodge has been designed to allow for both indoor and outdoor dining. The communal dining area encourages the sharing of stories with guides and guests over a friendly meal or opt for romantic private dinners and separate outdoor brunch tables (Available on request.)
Their wine cellar carries a wide selection of South African wines from crisp, dry whites to gentle fruity Rosé or Methode Cap Classique Sparkling Wines perfect for a warm summer’s day. In winter soothing sherry and fortified wines are the order of the day.
The toughest decision of your day being whether to complement your evening meal with a full-bodied Merlot, robust Cabernet Sauvignon or flamboyant Pinotage.
Safari
Their early morning game drives (safaris) are long enough to be able to view a substantial amount of game, yet short enough to fit in a enjoy a leisurely brunch, swim, massage or afternoon nap before high tea and a late afternoon drive.
The evening safari is highlighted by sundowner drinks, after which we drive back to the lodge for pre-dinner drinks and a delicious dinner. Whether you are planning to spend as much time as possible out on drives, or just to relax and unwind in the lodge you will be immersed in nature at all times.
Their safari game drives utilise the vast network of roads in the park as we explore the incredible biodiversity that makes Kruger a world icon. They are privileged to continue after dark when the self-drive tourists are required to return to their camps, allowing our guests the opportunity to experience the magic of Kruger at night. They are proud of the fact that they do not drive off-road – both out of respect for nature, thus ensuring its long-term sustainability but because in the Kruger Park, it’s just not necessary. The animals often take advantage of the smooth tarred roads along the most popular routes, allowing us to see more game in the winter months because the roads are not only warm but close to rivers and water sources.
Game drives are the predominant activity at Rhino Post Safari Lodge, you are afterall in the Kruger National Park. However, guests are offered additional activities which include chilling at the swimming pool or on the bar deck watching for animals coming to drink at the waterhole. Alternatively, in-room massage therapy is an excellent way to while away the time between meals and drives. Enjoy night-time stargazing using the lodge’s large telescope, or sip on a delectable cocktail at the bar.
