ABOUT
Little Africa Safari Lodge
Why This
Inspires Us
- Little Africa is a family run lodge and most will be very impressed with this wildlife haven and its warming service!
- Built on the banks of the Moditlo River – Little Africa has spacious rustic style tents that overlook the dry river beds and offers elegant decor that envelops you in its luxurious grip.
- What we love about it is that it is one of the only lodges that is wheelchair accessible – as is the entire camp! (no steps & walk in showers)
- Home away from home – but deep in the African Bush – this little gem goes above and beyond and really cares for the guests.
Lodge
Information
Little Africa Safari Lodge is the wildlife haven you have been looking for, situated in the heart of the lowveld, minutes from the Greater Kruger. Surrounded by the iconic bushveld, the reserve offers the best African Safaris and unobstructed views of the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains. This safari tent lodge is built in a rustic style on the banks of the Moditlo river and offers elegant decor that envelops you in its luxurious grip.
Little Africa Safari Lodge believes in and promotes ethical and responsible tourism. They are proud to show their guests Africa and its wildlife in the truest form – wild and free.
Located in the Blue Canyon Private Game Reserve in the quaint town of Hoedspruit in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, the region is better known as the Greater Kruger due to it bordering the Kruger National Park.
Owners Hugo & Leandra Bekker’s vision was to create an oasis of tranquillity for guests to get back to nature and experience the opulence of the African bush.
Their open lounge offers comfortable seating to finish your favourite book or challenge the family to a board-game.
Average temperatures during the year makes swimming a popular pastime in their infinity pool, or enjoy an exotic cocktail while sunbathing and soaking up the tranquillity that mother nature has to offer.
During the evenings, sitting around a bushveld fire while listening to the sounds of the wild is an absolute must to revitalise your soul and reconnect with loved ones or meet other guests. The lodge is surrounded by wild and curious animals & birds – so no matter where you choose to relax, your vantage point is perfect to experience special encounters.
Suites
Little Africa Safari Lodge offers eight en-suite luxury safari tents, accommodating a maximum of 16 guests.
Designed to blend into the surrounding bushveld, the tents offer a comfortable and authentic safari experience. Seven tents feature private patios overlooking the tranquil riverbed, providing a wonderful setting for enjoying the sounds and scenery of the bush.
Accommodation can be configured with either a king-size bed or single beds, making the lodge suitable for couples travelling together as well as friends and families. Each tent is equipped with air conditioning and complimentary bathroom amenities.
All eight tents are wheelchair accessible, with Tent 1 offering a fully wheelchair-friendly shower.
Tent 8 is the lodge’s newest and most private accommodation option, making it particularly appealing to honeymooners and couples celebrating a special occasion.
The suite features a private splash pool and outdoor shower, as well as an in-room coffee station and bar fridge. Its added privacy and facilities make Tent 8 an excellent choice for guests looking for a more secluded and indulgent safari experience and is ideal for Honeymooners.
Dining
Dining is an integral part of the Little Africa experience, with meals enjoyed in a relaxed bushveld setting and designed to complement the rhythm of a safari day.
Little Africa operates on an all-inclusive basis, with three meals served daily. Guests can start their morning with tea or coffee before heading out on safari, followed by breakfast after the morning game drive. Lunch is served during the day before guests head out again for their afternoon or evening safari.
As the sun sets over the bush, guests can pause for sundowners before returning to the lodge for dinner. Evenings around the fire or in the open-air boma provide the perfect opportunity to enjoy a relaxed meal while taking in the sounds of the African night.
Selected local drinks, tea, coffee and water are included as part of the all-inclusive experience.
At African Inspired Safaris, we believe that these unhurried moments around the table are an important part of the safari experience — just as memorable as the wildlife encounters themselves.
Safari
Safari is at the heart of a stay at Little Africa.
Guests enjoy two guided game drives each day, with an early morning drive and an afternoon or evening drive offering different opportunities to experience the reserve and its wildlife.
The Blue Canyon Private Game Reserve forms part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem, providing a natural setting in which to encounter a variety of African wildlife. Experienced guides and trackers help guests discover the reserve while sharing their knowledge of the animals, bushveld and surrounding ecosystem.
For those wanting to experience the wilderness at a slower pace, guided bush walks provide an opportunity to explore the smaller details of the environment, from tracks and plants to insects and birdlife.
Little Africa is also an excellent choice for birding and photography enthusiasts, with the surrounding bushveld offering plenty of opportunities to observe and photograph wildlife and birdlife.
Sundowners form an essential part of the safari experience, giving guests the chance to stop in the wilderness, enjoy a drink and watch the African landscape change as the sun sets.
