ABOUT

Lions Valley

Why This

Inspires Us

  • Lions Valley Lodge is ideally located halfway between Durban and Johannesburg (in the heart of the Nambiti Game Reserve!), this malaria free big 5 game reserve is actually just as close from Johannesburg as if you were going to Madikwe! (just in the opposite direction!).
  • Nambiti is not only within easy reach of central Drakensberg and many historic battlefields but also boasts some of the most spectacular landscapes that we’ve ever seen from waterfalls and gorges to expansive grassy plains! (We love the fact that we saw a large amount of plains game!)
  • We loved our incredible HUGE suite (which was more of a flat really)! The lavish free-standing suites offer double bath, double indoor and double outdoor showers! (Wonderfully romantic!) The deck is just as massive to enjoy watching the waterhole and wildlife that comes to drink!
  • Each of the 10 Suites is designed to a unique theme just to add to the touch of magic! (but do please be aware that no suite can be guaranteed)
  • The lodge itself is top notch! Beautiful with stunning views!! Cold winter evenings are enjoyed next to blazing fireplaces (great atmosphere) while summers are enjoyed lazing around the pool deck and in the sparkling pool (overlooking the waterhole)! You can also consider having a relaxing massage.
  • What amazed us is the finely tuned team of guides, management and support staff who work hard to make each experience beyond your expectations. (There’s magic, right there!)
  • Lions Valley Lodge offers a unique setting for corporate or team-building breakaways and conferences whilst being surrounded by the spectacular sights and sounds of the African bush!

Safari

The expansive Nambiti Private Game Reserve is home to a plethora of different game species. These animals are all iconic symbols of the animal kingdom and are an intrinsic part of or proud African heritage. Nambiti Private Game Reserve is one of the reserves in KwaZulu-Natal that offers you the chance to see all five of these iconic animals in one place.

The reserve is also home to a range of other fascinating animals. You’ll find smaller predators such as hyenas, cheetahs and other members of the feline family. The reserve also offers a wide variety of antelope as well as giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, jackal, warthog, various reptiles and a myriad of insects.

Early morning and late afternoon game drives are offered to their guests, and each is a special adventure. One of their knowledgeable field guides will lead these drives and keep you informed as well as entertained. You will be given a selection of snacks and beverages during the game drive, and you could even get the chance to compete against your guide in a game of “bokdrolspoeg”…
