Inspires Us
- Return to a bygone era at RiverBend Lodge! The history behind the Addo Elephant Park to us is amazing! Founded in 1931 – the purpose was to provide sanctuary and to protect the last remaining 11 elephants in the area! Thriving conservation efforts has aided the population to grow! (now come and see how many there are!)
- Situated at a bend in the long-dry riverbed, the lodge has gorgeous gardens, a swimming pool and delightful reading spots with clear views of the water hole. (Not sure if you will get any reading done as you watch all the wildlife – but you can always try :-))
- The stand alone luxury suites are spacious and boast a private deck and an outside shower where you can keep a lookout for animals grazing and drinking out the waterhole as you enjoy!
- The Honeymoon suite will also blow you away with a plunge pool and fire fit that are just out of this world – great to enjoy while listening to the sound of the bush and the African night sky above!
- All ages are welcome and there are a variety of activities to keep kids entertained and give the adults a chance to either enjoy pampering treatments at the Plumbago Spa or down at the hide!
- At RiverBend you are lucky to enjoy not only a stunning sunset (accompanied by a glass of wine), and several animals in the background but when the sun sets you can learn about the amazing stars above and even go on a night drive!
- Riverbend is situated in the Nyathi private concession which is so much more special and varied, where you are able to access areas unavailable to most Addo visitors (you can go the entire day without seeing another vehicle!) – In comparison, when you drive through the main park, it is less “spot the animal” and more “spot the cars”
Lodge
Information
Situated on a private concession inside the malaria-free Addo Elephant National Park, which was established in 1931 to protect a decimated elephant population. Addo Elephant National Park is the third largest park in South Africa, encompassing 176 000 terrestrial hectares with an additional 114 marine reserve.
Allowing guests the opportunity to experience the “Big 7” which combines the transitional African “Big 5” – lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo – with marine – whales and the great white shark.
Where old charm met luxury, in a settling where one can appreciate a peacefulness that only nature can provide.
Suites
River Bend boasts a Honeymoon Suite, Luxury 3 bedrooms, a Luxury suite and the Long Hope Villa.
You can unwind in one of the 8 distinctively stand alone designed luxury suites. Settle down for an afternoon nap or a good night’s rest after game viewing on their premium linen with your Tempur-Pedic mattress.
Soak away the day in a bath or for those of you who prefer, take a shower either inside or for the more adventurous in the outside shower.
Each suite has a minibar. satellite-programmed 40-inch Smart TV, free wireless Internet access.

CHILD POLICY
- Children of all ages are welcome
- Children will be accommodated in the Luxury Suite – No children allowed in the Honeymoon Suite
- Children under the age of 3 years stay free of charge
- Children 3 – 12 years pay 30.5% of the adults sharing rate when sharing with adults
- Children 13 – 16 years pay 60.5% of the adult sharing rate when sharing with adults
- Children 17 years and older are considered adults and pay the applicable rate
- All ages are allowed on game drive
- Babysitting available on request at an additional charge
